RVing Is Fun – That’s for Sure. However, it is not always easy. Do you have personality for being on the road with your RV for an extended period?

It takes a special type of person to RV for long periods of time. Reviewing these traits will help you to understand whether you or someone you want to RV with can cut it. The destination counts but so does the journey. Some people, the ones who really enjoy RVing, even the difficult times, are the ones who also really appreciate the journey.

1. Venturesome

If you are adventurous, you do not only love going to places you have never been but also you enjoy trying things you have never done. This could mean taking road trips to new destinations, kayaking in a river for the first time, or trying new foods & restaurants in the area you are staying.
To go on a venture is something that is important to you. You like the saying “nothing ventured, nothing gained”.

2. Flexible

Being flexible and having the ability to adapt to new places is key to living in a home-on-wheels. Many full-time RVers are one the road with ever-changing situations. Some full-time RVers do spend time in a park long-term, and this requires less flexibility but if you want to hit the open road in your RV then a high degree of flexibility will serve you well.

New RV parks, campgrounds and states will present to you many varying experiences and that is what RVing is all about. Plans can change. You may need to figure out a different route. Full-time RVers need to sometimes go with the flow.

Living in a home-on-wheels full time requires being self-sufficient. You are on your own schedule and can go wherever you would like whenever you want. You are self-reliant, make your own decisions, and do not usually need help from anyone else.

You sometimes need to come up with creative solution, you need to be inventive and resourceful. Some may say that you need to be a do-it-yourself master. You need to be able to handle difficult situations. Something in your RV may break and you may not have all the right tools. You will, from time to time need to come up with creative new solutions.

5. An Independent Spirit

Having confidence in your own abilities is an important trait. A camper needs to have a high degree of self-confidence and know that when issue arise that you can handle them. Independent people can take care of their own basic needs without help from others.

6. Patience

You may get lost. You may miss an exit. Your refrigerator may stop working. Perhaps your neighbors at the campground stay up too late and are too loud. Things happen.

Your patience is going to be needed more than ever. RVing full time comes with its own set of challenges, and just like back at home, having patience to deal with them as they come along makes life that much easier.

7. Organized

Keeping things clean and organized is crucial in the small space of an RV. Dishes need to be done at least once a day, and storage solutions can take away clutter anxiety.

8. Devoted

Some days on the road are easy. Others day may be more difficult. RVing, just like life in general, comes with its ups and downs. You will expend energy, money, and effort to maintain your home-on-wheels.

Devoted people will stick to the lifestyle despite getting a flat tire. You know there are much greater things ahead and will stick with it.

9. Broadminded

Keeping an open mind is important on the open road. You will need to be willing to hear and consider new ideas. There are often multiple ways of doing something. Someone may know a better way that you have not considered before.

Your ability to be open to different ways of doing things could lead you to a new favorite method that benefits you greatly.

10. Economical

Living simply can be a big advantage when you are on the road. You need to be smart with your resources and not be wasteful. This may mean shopping at thrift stores and looking for discounts on campgrounds.
